Before automobiles, the railroad was the lifeline connecting St. Helena to San Francisco and the wider world. This exhibit examines the arrival of the Napa Valley Railroad in the 1860s and its profound impact on local commerce, tourism, and daily life.
On display are original timetables, station photographs, ticketing memorabilia, and a scale model of the St. Helena depot as it appeared in 1890. Visitors can also hear audio excerpts from interviews with families who worked on the line.
